Our Mission

Build the simplest, most trustworthy, curated local marketplace and bulletin board on the internet, one region at a time.

• Local-first. Counties and nearby towns come first. No endless national junk encouraging spam.
• People over brokers. Especially in Services/Directory: real local providers, not lead-gen middlemen.
• Fast and readable. Compact “local newspaper” layout, minimal bloat, and pages that load quickly.
• Safe by default. Moderation, limits, and rules that reduce scams and garbage listings.

How It Works

• Pick a region. County Outpost pages are region-aware (we keep your selected region saved).
• Browse or post. Basic posting is designed to be easy for normal people, not power sellers.
• Limits reduce spam. Some categories and extra postings require payment to keep things clean.
• Moderation matters. We actively remove scams, junk, and service-broker listings.

If you don’t have a region selected, the site will send you back to the Region Selector (Home).

SMS (Twilio) Behavior

SMS is used for urgent or user-initiated actions. Email is the record and fallback.

• Recommended Provider Requests: one immediate acknowledgement text only (“Text 1”).
• No SMS spam: we throttle confirmations so you don’t get repeated messages.
• STOP/HELP language: messages include standard opt-out and help wording.
• Consent: users should only receive texts after providing their phone and requesting a text-triggering action.

If SMS delivery fails, the request can still be recorded and supported through email.

Payments & Compliance

We use a payment processor for paid categories, upgrades, and ad/sponsor placements. During onboarding/approval, some payment flows may be limited.

• Secure checkout is handled on the Secure Checkout page.
• PCI: you may see compliance reminders, including vulnerability scans required by the processor’s program.
• Minimal data: we aim to collect only what’s needed to run the site and process payments.
